<image:title>Fees & appointments - Initial consultation.</image:title>
<image:caption>I offer short or long-term therapy on an individual basis. When you first get in touch having decided you’re serious about exploring therapy, we will arrange a consultation session for which I will charge £60 (or £30, if we decide to only use half a session). This initial session will allow us to get a feel for one another and for me to begin to understand your situation, what brings you to therapy now and what you might wish to get out of the work. All sessions, including the initial consultation, are 50 minutes. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions that you might have before beginning therapy in earnest, which might include questions about me and how we would work, or what other therapies are out there. I can help guide you as to what might be best for you; and I wilI let you know whether I see working with me as a good fit for you.</image:caption>

<image:title>Fees & appointments - Regular sessions.</image:title>
<image:caption>Should we both wish to continue after that first session, we would then look to arrange a time each week when we could meet together. It is important for both client and therapist to be equally committed and that therapy takes place regularly and consistently, wherever possible. Meeting each week works well in most cases; and certainly at the beginning as we build our relationship. Fees. After that initial consultation, sessions will usually be in the range of £70 to £90, depending on your means. We will agree a fee at the beginning of our work. A conversation on a reduced fee is welcome with good reason. If you feel in need of therapy and my hourly fee would prevent you from seeking my support, then please bring this to my attention and we can talk about what might be done. At each calendar half-year (1st Jan & 1st June) I will consider again our fee and its appropriateness in all the circumstances. If I believe a change is for the best, then I will discuss this with you. As we go, it will be important that we are both comfortable with the financial arrangement between us.</image:caption>

<image:title>Fees & appointments - Cancellation & non-attendance.</image:title>
<image:caption>Whilst we are working together, the expectation will be that we meet each week, save for the weeks around Christmas and Easter and the August holiday period when it works well for both client and therapist to take a short and regular break. I would inform you in good time when those weeks fall. Within this, I would ask for at least one week’s notice if you intend to cancel our weekly session. Should you cancel within 48 hours of the session or fail or otherwise be unable to attend (including illness), then you will be liable to pay the full fee of the missed session. In the event that you are unable to make a session and haven’t let me know at least 48-hours beforehand, I will endeavour to find with you another time that week when we can both meet (for which you wouldn’t be charged on top of the missed session), subject to my having some availability. Our arrangement would be that payment is made on the day of the session or the day following by bank transfer. Please ask me for my account details.</image:caption>

<image:title>Welcome - My approach</image:title>
<image:caption>I recognise that for all of us Life can often be confusing, contradictory and at times extremely testing. At any stage we can be faced with feelings of sadness, anger or loneliness. You may feel lost and uncertain or Life might seem meaningless. In my existential psychotherapy practice I endeavour to address such questions whilst taking into account the uniqueness of your individuality and specific needs.</image:caption>

<image:title>My approach - With whom do I work?</image:title>
<image:caption>I work with anyone for whom I believe it is appropriate for me to do so. My view on that will be based on your situation and needs and my own experience and competences. It will be important for you too to make a careful choice. We can talk through all of this when we first meet and as we go. Should we choose to work together, our relationship will be at the heart of who we are as a client-therapist partnership. Holding a considered view as to whether you and I are a good working fit will be one of my primary roles as therapist; and much of our initial time together will be spent building trust and getting to know one another. I am LGBTQIA+ friendly.</image:caption>

<image:title>My approach - My approach.</image:title>
<image:caption>My aim throughout therapy is to help you voice your struggles and better make sense of them. Within this, my approach is one of trust, collaboration, engagement and non-judgement in a relaxed, supportive yet active atmosphere. Working in this way offers you the opportunity to clarify experiences, tell your story, gain insight and reflect on your situation. Your courage and willingness to be open and honest will be an important part of the work. You will open out a better understanding of yourself, your power to choose, your limitations and possibilities. What I am describing here is my take on some of the ideas of existential psychotherapy, which provides the broad foundation for my practice.</image:caption>

<image:title>About me - About me.</image:title>
<image:caption>I am an existential psychotherapist registered with UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy). I discovered existential psychotherapy at a time of personal crisis in my own life some years ago through a kind friend’s suggestion. I found that it was concerned with the same questions that were becoming more pressing for me personally; and I quickly became encouraged by the honesty, simplicity and power of the existential process. At first, my formal training was about finding out more. This curiosity – along with a recognition that I can’t know everything, even about myself – remains an essential part of my practice. I have trained at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling (affiliated with Middlesex University) and at Regent’s University. I have worked in the NHS for two years within Guy’s & St Thomas’ Cancer Care services. Prior to that I worked in the charitable sector with a broad range of psychotherapeutic clients, also in London. In terms of registrations and associations, which are important: besides being a registered Full Clinical Member Psychotherapist with UKCP - to whose Code of Ethics I fully adhere - I am also an Accredited Clinical Member of the UPCA (Universities Psychotherapy & Counselling Association) and a member of SEA (Society for Existential Analysis).</image:caption>

<image:title>About me - My experience.</image:title>
<image:caption>I have particular experience with: our relationships, with ourselves & others – anxiety – anger – trauma – cancer care – illness, death & dying – loss & bereavement – suicidal ideation – self-exploration & identity – search for meaning & finding a personal sense of congruency – professional and career challenges. My clinical work is regularly supervised by a UKCP registered practionner. I also practise as a solicitor in London’s business district, registered with the SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority) for over 20 years. This parallel career sits comfortably alongside and - when relevant - helps to inform my psychotherapy practice. With that experience, I bring a fresh understanding of fast-moving, modern professional life. Finding meaning and direction in my occupational life has been significant in my own journey and I work well with others in that space. A summary of my most-relevant academic and professional particulars would be: 2022 - Full Clinical Member with UKCP 2021 - Accredited Clinical Member with UPCA 2013-2021 - Masters of Arts (MA) Exit from Clinical Doctorate in Psychotherapy & Counselling by Professional Studies (DProf) at Middlesex University through The New School of Psychotherapy & Counselling 2019 - Registered Psychotherapist member with BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) 2018-2019 - Honorary Psychotherapist at Dimbleby Cancer Care, Guy’s Hospital, London 2016-2018 - Honorary Psychotherapist at The Claremont Centre, London Jan-Apr 2013 - Foundation in Psychotherapy (Postgraduate Diploma) at Regent’s University</image:caption>
